In order to prepare for the CCI Career Day at the Alumni Center I washed the attire I planned to wear, made copies of my resume and shaved. After walking in to the Alumni Center the companies that sparked my interest the most were Diverse Computing Inc, Uber Operations, and Pea Green Solutions. Therefore, I spoke with and submitted my resume to all three of those companies.
First, I spoke with Diverse Computing Inc and was told about how they focus on providing software for law enforcement agencies. Their software provides access to criminal justice databases for all authorized parties. Currently, Diverse Computing Inc is in the process of building mobile applications for its users. They strive to provide their clients with the most updated and high quality software.
Next, I talked with one of the representatives for Uber Operations. He informed me about how Uber Operations is a leading provider of health care IT services. A great deal of what they do is centered around data integration. An important part to data integration is to make sure that the data is secure. For instance, if a cyber criminal broke into the data that Uber Operations stores then he or she would have access to millions of peoples’ social security numbers, credit card numbers and much more.
Lastly, I spoke to a couple of recruiters from Pea Green Solutions. Pea Green Solutions is a marketing firm that is based here in Tallahassee. A few of their services include event planning, brand advertising and public relations. They are very good at spreading the word about your company and bringing it positive attention. If your company needs to get into the spotlight Pea Green Solutions is the answer.
Overall, the CCI Career Day was a great event. The opportunity to meet with a ton of potential employers for the Information Technology field was priceless. Being able to attend such an event was a very valuable experience.
For the Security Analysis assignment I analyzed what would be the impact of my labtop being stolen. At first I thought “I just got a new computer so aside from the cost of replacing the labtop itself that wouldn’t be a big deal” but I soon found out I was very wrong. Most of the time I backup my important files right after I finish creating them but sometimes I forget. As a result, a few of the important files I forgot to back up would have been lost for good in the case my labtop was stolen today. Therefore, I need to get better at making sure to backup valuable files as quickly as possible. When it comes to the overall security of my computer it needs to be improved. Right now I don’t even have a password once my computer is turned on, wakes up from sleep , etc… There is also no lock for it in case I so happen to leave it unattended for a period of time. I realized after doing this assignment I am very vulnerable. If my labtop happens to be stolen then the thief will have no problem accessing all of my files and personal information. Due to my lack of judgement I would be in quite some trouble. My plans to prevent any bad from happening will include buying a lock for my computer, creating a password for my computer and to access individua files. On top of that I’m going to backup my information quicker and keep an eye out for where I am vulnerable if my labtop was to be stolen at this moment. The time I put into preventing any possible harm will save me tons of anguish in the event that anything to my computer happens.

In order to prepare for this event I updated my resume. I added my current job and proofread it for any errors. Next, I went to Strozier Library and made a couple of copies. Then, I dusted off my leather folder and placed the copies of my resume inside. Lastly, before going to the Civic Center I showered, shaved, and dressed in a polo shirt and khaki pants so I would look presentable. The companies that gained my attention the most were Reliaquest, ROI Revolution, Tribridge INC, and World Fuel Services. The two companies that I spoke with and ended up submitting my resume to were Tribridge INC and World Fuel Services. When I talked to the representative of Tribridge INC I shared with him that I am an Information Technology major and would be interested in any computational jobs. From then on, we covered the importance of online security. We discussed how Tribridge INC strives to make sure confidential information isn’t vulnerable to any persons outside of the company. In addition, we conversed about network and server managing. I feel as if I got a really good impression of the company from the short time I spent speaking to one of their representatives. After Tribridge INC, I spoke with World Fuel Services. They have a ton of IT jobs in their business. However, the one that I focused on the most in conversation was database management. I’m in a beginner data base management class right now and see how crucial a good database is to a successful company. In the end, I feel as if I learned a lot about the two companies and put in a good word for myself.
Here I will share with you my feelings about Casey Yu’s class!
